Norfolk Chamber Stop Smoking Service

Smoking is a major cause for concern within a workplace. It can have a direct impact on both smokers and non-smokers, and ultimately employers. In addition, employers now have a legal responsibility to ensure that people do not smoke in the workplace.

Other issues include:

Absenteeism
Smokers tend to have more sick leave than non-smokers.

Safety
It is estimated that around 20% of workplace fires are started by cigarettes or discarded matches. This can lead to higher fire insurance premiums.

Keeping key personnel
Smoking is an important contributory factor in the top three causes of death and major ill health: coronary artery disease, cancers and strokes. Losing employees due to these illnesses can have a major impact on a workplace.

Be a caring employer
Encourage and contribute to good health awareness for the benefit your employees and your business.

What the Norfolk Chamber can do to help your business

We can provide a Stop Smoking Service, called The Quit Club.

  • This is delivered on your premises by a qualified advisor.
  • It will provide drop-in support sessions once a week for 7 weeks.
  • The club can be ongoing if further employees join the club later.
  • The Club can be run during lunch times, during shift change overs or rest breaks.
  • The Club offers a referral scheme for Nicotine Replacement Treatments and offers savings over retail prices for these products.
