The Equality Act 2010 attempts to consolidate, simplify and strengthen existing discrimination and equal pay legislation, with the result that it is a huge and rather unwieldy piece of legislation. Most of the employment provisions are due to come into force on 1 October 2010 (although the new Government may yet change the timetable for implementation). In practice, much will remain unchanged for employers in order to comply with the requirements of the Act but it also introduces some important differences. At the HR Forum on 14 September we will provide an overview of the Equality Act and focus on the key areas that employers will need to be aware of.
